- GSE Land successfully kicked off
- EEA Management Board has proposed to it's member states to accept the service concept of GSE Land as the basis for a European-wide GMES Fast Track Service ( FTS ). This was agreed
- GSE land product concept seems to be valid for national level and has led to an on-going discussion on a harmonised national data model and geo-information procurement scheme including land use / land cover from EO data in Germany

2005-11
- Coordination with other consortia:
- Agreement with the FP6 IP geoland and other GSE consortia to establish a common self-governed GMES user community for land applications organised by ETC -TE; a first user group focusing on cross-cutting issues supporting the on-going discussion on FTS has been initialised at the first Progress Meeting in Barcelona (Dec. 1-2).
- Synchronisation of geoland DOW for 2006 to meet GSE Land implementation plan wrt validation requirements.
- Active collaboration with the DG ENTR workshop preparation team and the designated members of the fast track service implementation group.

2006-02
- The self-governed GMES Land User Group has been inaugurated. An impressive number of users from key member states (e.g. Austria , Germany , Greece , France , Poland , Spain , Sweden , United Kingdom ) have already indicated their interest to participate; users now seek for official national mandate to have more influence on GMES process.
- A joint GSE Land / geoland user workshop to discuss the Fast Track Service Pre-cursor at geoland forum has been successful in shaping the ideas for a final approval by EEA, the user-DGs, and the MS.
- The GSE Land user IKSMS (Saar-Mosel International River Catchment Body) actively promoted the GSE Land services at the geoland Forum and the EC GMES Workshop for the regions of Europe in Toulouse .
- Fast Track Service Precursor approved by EEA and Member States for EEA 32 coverage following a geoland/ GSE Land service provider initiative. Besides a CORINE Land Cover update two high resolution GMES mapping layers are foreseen based on GSE Land / geoland and GSE Forest Monitoring portfolio.
- The Service Provider Network framework as been approved at geoland Forum 3 in Vienna . Legal details still under discussion; signature process of Service Partnership Protocol after final approval

2006-03
LIFE + and Interreg regulations now accept GMES services to be eligible for funding. This will hopefully support the established service provider network to survive the gap from 2008 onwards, until European budget lines have been established. |
2006-06
The service provider network (comprising GSE Land and FP 6 IP geoland partners) has actively collaborated in defining the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the European Fast Track Service Land ( FTS ). At the KO meeting organised by EEA on 27th/ 28th June in Copenhagen with DGs and MS representatives showed broad support for the sealing service developed and consolidated by geoland/ GSE Land. EEA and GSE Land user organisations first time spoke up in public for this service and committed themselves. The QA approach for FTS is largely in line with the GSE Land demonstrated mechanism.

End of phase 1
- Until Q4/2006 393.400 km² have been mapped and 246.550 km² of downstream products have been produced and delivered to 19 user organisations in 9 nations.
- All water quality and irrigation services have been independently evaluated.
- The general positive user-feedback gives proof that for water quality, irrigation and spatial planning services the consolidation phases in Stage 1 and geoland have been successful and that transnational, large area mapping capacities could be established providing adequate throughput at high quality.
- DG Regio now actively involved in the definition of the European Urban Atlas product

2006-10
- First European GSE service providers achieved qualification for GMES processing chains by independent industrial auditor TÜV Süddeutschland (Oct. 12th ITD, Oct. 30th Indra Espacio, Oct. 31th Tragsatec).
